Mountain View Eichler

A residential remodel of a Mountain View Eichler.  This model’s pantry created an awkward pinch that isolated the Kitchen from the public spaces.  The design goal was to maximize the opening to the Dining & Living Rooms while providing storage and functionality for a family of four.  The pantry was stretched into a line of cabinetry, and the sink and cooktop were located along the picture window to access natural light and enjoy a peak of green while washing or cooking.  A narrow island provides an important landing strip for incoming groceries or pans headed to the oven.  The island was designed to feel open and is electrified with a continuous plugmold beneath the counter.  A built in banquette and floor to ceiling Living Room bookshelves make use of previously unused areas.

The remaining public spaces received an update with the intent of encouraging light into the darker areas, brightening an otherwise dated home.
