The Clay Jones

This couple wanted to update their home in Nob Hill to showcase their eclectic art collection and infuse it with their sense of artistry. They focused on the kitchen and two bathrooms, with an eye toward using materials, details, and concepts to make each room a bit of an experience. The previously cramped kitchen now feels open and airy. The cool white upper cabinets, walls and ceiling are the backdrop for artwork and a window with a sneak peak of the spire of Grace Cathedral. Wood base cabinets bring warmth to the space. The guest bathroom incorporates an unexpected mix of high and low materials. Precious gold-leaf hand-made wallpaper by De Gourney is paired with Marmoleum on the floor. The stark black and bright gold wallpaper envelops the room, wrapping both walls and ceiling to visually minimize edges. A radius edge at the vanity maximizes storage while maintaining a feeling of spaciousness in the small room.

The main bathroom is awash in Tiffany blue-a light filled gift box holding a massive glittering crystal and bronze chandelier at its center. The antique chandelier was a labor of love. The clients had it shipped from New Orleans and rewired locally.Details also focused on the furry family members. A custom cabinet in the main bath provides a hidden tunnel leading to the custom-built cat box in the vanity of the guest bathroom, freeing up more storage space in the main bathroom. The design process was just as much a part of the total experience for this couple. We used Oculus VR technology at Pixar Studios to give them a true immersive experience of their new spaces as the design evolved. “Stacy and her team have a great attention to detail and great pride in their work. We hired Stacy and her team to remodel our kitchen as well as some other work to the rest of our apartment. Her first concern was functionality. She made sure we weren't just thinking about how it would feel to use the space. Thankfully she was thinking about the livability of this new space, because this was the first remodel we had done and I'm sure we wouldn't have thought through the kind of things that Stacy did.

We didn't have a lot of time to meet and talk about the plans, luckily Stacy was very flexible in how we could all work together. She set up one day long session which allowed us to make every decision about the kitchen and the other work in one day.

We let Stacy choose the contractor we'd be working with because we trusted her and wanted her to work with someone she trusted. Though the contractor might have cost a little more, we saved money in the end because nothing had to be re-done. Stacy chose someone great that she trusted and knew she could communicate with well. Everything was done beautifully and on time.
It's been over a year and we still love how everything turned out. We plan on remodeling our bathrooms soon and we will definitely be hiring Stacy and her team. We look forward to working with her to get the most function out of our tiny SF bathrooms.”

“I recommend Eisenmann Architecture without hesitation. We loved working with them and every decision they helped us make with our kitchen, dining room, living room, laundry room and entry hall still makes us happy a year and a half later. We will definitely use them for our upcoming bathroom remodel.”
